A few nights ago when I speculated that the Nokia 870 tablet would be released at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show, I thought it'd be nice if I tried to get in the door. I filled out the application as "press" and was told that they will decide within 30 days if I am "worthy" enough as a member of the press to attend. The problem is that the show is January 8-11.
No worries, though. I'll schedule the vacation time from my "day job" and not worry about hotel reservations as my grandparents live in the same city. Airfare? No need! I can drive the six hours.

You might be able to get a pass to CES by describing you "day job" affliation. I had no trouble getting a pass when I submitted my request as a member of an Education institution.
