Friend of this blog and fellow N800 user Cybette and I just did a test. I used my Nokia N800 and called her up on hers and we had a video call. What differentiates this from my last video-calling test (if you haven't seen the video yet, follow that link) is that my call with Patrick was WiFi to WiFi whereas my call to Cybette was a little different:
I used my N800 over a bluetooth dial-up networking session to my Motorola Q on Verizon's EV-DO service. It worked! Read her observations here but I was able to see and hear her just fine. We both did walk-arounds and the video got a little blocky at times but always caught up. The audio, while suffering in quality once in a while, never was so bad that I was unable to hear her.
I don't suggest others do this because it's against Verizon's terms of service, but am glad I tested it and was able to see it works!
Thanks, Cybette!
