When I posted just a pretty little picture of my N800, users asked me what all those little things on my home screen were. Not one to disappoint my readers, I decided to take a better picture and walk users through what I keep as default apps on my N800.
We'll start with the Status Bar:
- The black triangle is new to the latest N800 firmware. It's a drop-down toggle that hides my Bluetooth, Brightness, and Devicescape applets.
- The next one is my CPU/Memory/Screenshot applet
- Apparently I am "Not Available" on Google Talk
- My WiFi is connected
- My battery is full
- My volume is way up
- and finally my GMail box is being monitored
- Google Search is and will always be there.
- Below it, my RSS reader is showing headlines from Engadget, Slashdot, Planet Maemo, and Lifehacker
- Topping the right column is a shortcut to Navicore.
- Below that is my Canola applet
- Finally, there's my clock.
Didn't know you could stuff that much on your home screen, did you?

kinda interesting to see that even the N800 have problems with the "tray" overflowing with icons...
and simplelanucher is nice. and with some of the suggestions on the garage page, it would be even better.
but it seems that its having issues with transparent backgrounds on my 770. the bug is reported, but in essence it seems to eat up parts of the right-most icon.
How did you configure SimpleLauncher to be transparent and have such big icons? On mine they look much smaller.
Mark, the icons are highly customizable. You can find this option via start, settings applet, laucher settings, tab UI, icon size.
Thoughtfix, how did you install the CPU/Memory/Screenshot applet; on the maemo website I can only find a 2006 version which is not installable on the OS 2007 version ?!
Jan
How do you get the black triangle that you say is new to the latest firmware? I have the latest and can't locate the triangle.
Also, where did you get the CPU/Memory/Screenshot applet? The only one I've found doesn't install.
Thanks!
the triangle appears automatically when you have more applications then fit on the bar.
you have to download and save the applet, and then install it via the downloaded file (also the os 2006 version works on 2007)
Is it possible to share internet via BT form the cell phone ?
Can you laungh www.waluty.com.pl site on N800 ?

Thanks Jan, I must have installed an earlier version because I didn't have those options.
