- Polls! The first poll is about the most desired N810 feature that is not present.
- A minor feature addition is a break-down of all the article labels I've used on this blog, sorted by popularity.
- Reduced front-page articles to 10 for faster loading
- Better archiving method

I need to make a few more tweaks and changes, but the site is now optimized for an 800 pixel wide display (including a scroll bar.) If you read from an RSS reader, it's time to hop back to TabletBlog.com and take a look.

The site search box looks horrible. Google allows you to select a background colour which you can match to the colour of the sidebar. (Use any colour picker to select the colour of the sidebar and enter it in Google settings.)
The site looks good! Blogger provides a blog search box at the top of the page, why the google search box?
As far as that feature survey goes .. we are supposed to pick one of those? I could narrow it down to two I think. WiMAX, Full size SD, scroll wheel, USB on the go, and video out would be nice though ;]
I like it! - And I hardly ever say this about a new design, simply because I hate change. ;)
This is a great site, anyway. Thanks for all the effort!
Feature Survey (for N810)?
- SD slot (got lots of em, want to use)?
- USB devices (keyboard, mouse, External Hard Drives, SD card on external USB adapter so can use my camera(s) SD cards, etc)...
- include bluetooth keyboard in price
- a little bigger screen (IMAP email is tough to use on this.. unless software is the problem, on the N800 I used a Maemo.org downloaded email client, and could barely use it, so one that is better, or a bigger screen, can't tell)?
- lower price (somewhere in the area of $300 for the N810, the Eee PC, and OLPC are much less, in fact, over 1/2 the cost of the N810, why so expensive for the N810)? Also funny that Buy.com has the N800s for $234. now, so WE KNOW there is a huge markup going on with the N810).
- to be able to use AAA batteries in the N810 and like devices (the AA 15 minute rechargeable ones are WONDERFUL for my camera, can even charge on cig-lighter in car in 15 minutes, and it would be nice to use such fast charging batteries for devices like the N810 and cell phone as well). Proprietary battery prices are a rip-off for when you tear em apart they are just AAA cell batteries in the package anyway, in most cases).
Sorry - oops - the Buy.com N800 price today is $228.99 - and the same unit at CompUSA is $399.00.
Hmmm? Ok - so where is the beef?
If Nokia wants to move the N810, they got to VALUE price it in line with other portable offerings (LINUX based), such as the One Laptop Per Child pricing at $400 BUT you get one and donate one to a needy child (meaning the real price is $200 for a ton of features), or the Eee PC with a very low price, that has more Flash, more RAM, more features, at a base price of ONLY $259.00.
Some N810 features that are good but Nokia needs to see a doctor to decide what it wants the N-Series to be. They eliminate features that are liked in older versions totally they disapear in the newer version, and they throw on some stuff and increase the price for not really much value over what we could do with an Eee PC device that I am going to buy as soon as it is available in the US... (for 1/2 the price of the N810).
There is a reason why the N800 is not selling well, I took mine back to CompUSA AND GOT A FULL REFUND, after testing it, and if I get an N810, for testing, I will do the same due to a lack of some seriously needed features, and a reasonable price for the unit.
Forgot to mention, that I never get lost, don't need GPS at all... I never have gotten lost, not ever. So, why not a version of the N810 with the improvements listed, that does not have the GPS stuff as a required feature?
- include bluetooth keyboard in price, at the price Nokia is charging for this, why not throw in a FREE keyboard as you need it for serious use anyway, and Nokia's branded Bluetooth keyboard is 3 times more expensive vs the 3rd party ones that are out there... this OBVIOUS, and huge difference in pricing between Nokia Bluetooth keyboard and 3rd party ones, indicates that Nokia is ripping off their customers. Are you also ripping us off with the price of the N810?
- The whole world does not have WiFi or Cell Phone service. So, where is the ability to use a USB to Ethernet RJ45 for hooking to the internet where this is the only way that we can access it?
- THE N800 and N810 DEVICE NEEDS JAVA... otherwise it is useless for many serious web sites we all visit, administrate, and do business with.
Nokia's FLASH web site is a waste of time waiting for stuff to load. Sure it is entertaining, but a survey of women at iVillage.com years ago resulted in all responses noting that the fancy stuff on web sites was a pain for multi-tasking women, with a lot to do, who just wanted the facts from a site to use to evaluate and make a decision, that all the fancy stuff... made them often go to a web site that gave them what they needed but QUICKER. This flash stuff must be a guy thing, huh?
At least that is what I have heard women say, anyway. So, as a heads-up - You need to give folks the option of avoiding the Flash stuff, and give us access to a site that has the specs and info we need, and not the fancy stuff that we really don't need, and it does not impress us.
Hello,
I just made a pre-order on a Nokia N800. Exciting stuff - (give me a "Hell Yeah!" Thoughtfix). In the UK this device is priced at a harsh £249. However, looking at prices recently, they have gone down to £199. But, I got mine for £149 on Play.com. So for those of you who are interested in the Nokia N800 and live in the UK, head on over to this page on Play.com: http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile

/Product.html
From what I have seen, it is the cheapest price for the device.
Simon
A bit confused -- I thought the N810 *will* have USB OTG? The only snag is it's an unpowered port and you might need a micro-to-full USB converter.
ThoughtFix,
You should post action shots of you using your Nokia N8 devices while wearing Ninja gear, or various other costumes for the header banner. XX
Sadly, without an FM tuner, the N810 will never replace my N800. I just don't get lost that much ;)
