MAJOR DISCLAIMER
I have a unit and software revision that is not the full release. It's close, but there are some changes being made under the hood between the time mine was made and the time the retail units hit shelves. I don't know what the differences are, but I will attempt to duplicate any problems or performance issues I may have with the pre-release unit on the final revision. Do not assume anything I post is 100% correct or set in stone between now and then.
So far, users have requested the following videos:
- Video calling
- GPS system
- Meebo
- A better one showing YouTube performance (a fast action video)
- Comprehensive test of video formats, CODECs, bit rates, and quality
- What's the spec list?
- How much is it?
- I hear between $450 and $479 US. (Forgive my typo in the last post. It was never $350)
- When can I buy one?
- Expect shipping in 3-4 weeks
- Is that a USB host port on the side of the unit?
- I will have to test, but I don't think so.
- Another camera (better res) in back?
- No. One forward facing web camera.
- USB power plug?
- No. This does not support charging over USB
- Can it play DivX?
- Not at this time.
- Can I run a typing speed test?
- Do you know the best way to do this?
- What is the start-up/shut-down time?
- Startup time is slow. Even a bit slower than the N800. Still - it's best to leave it in standby when not in use.
- How pocketable is it?
- Check the spec sheet for real dimensions. In the included case, it slips easily into my jeans pockets.
- Will OS 2008 be on the N800?
- Yes, including performance enhancements and GPS software availability.
- Will the N800 be discontinued?
- No. In fact, I'm halfway through an article that compares them.
- Is there an FM Tuner?
- No. It was cut out for space concerns.
- How does the GPS compare to the N800's NAVKIT?
- The software is nearly identical. The hardware is still being tested. My preproduction unit is slow to lock on, but it may be fixed on release. It still works after satellite lock.
- How does the car mount compare?
- The new car mount has a bolt mounting pattern instead of a suction cup, but the suction cup should be available as an accessory. The GPS video is forthcoming.
- dmesg
- /proc/cpuinfo
- /proc/meminfo
- lsmod
- kernel version
- What is the version of MicroB browser on N810?
- Overall usage notes
- Notes on the specs and pics on the FCC now, including user manual
- Complete stand-alone review of the Nokia N810
- N800 or N810: Now there are choices. Which to choose?
- Announcing the N810 give-away contest.

Nice summary, thanks! - hobbes@itT
I haven't got or seen a unit, but it almost certainly plays DivX, given that's what the single best format for the Internet Tablets.
It probably still can't play J. Random DivX downloaded from the Internet which tend to be at 640x368 and >1,000kbps.
However, I bet you can download http://www.bleb.org/misc/STTNG.avi which is a 4MB DivX file which should play properly on any Maemo device to date.
The official Nokia announcement quoted the estimated retail price of 479 USD plus taxes.
It support DivX just fine as long as it's in a AVI container and is at a bitrate the tablet can handle.
In addition, it now supports h.264 video, which the N800 didn't

OK, now you have my attention!
Lucky I read all the way through to the last line . . .
Don't you want to give us just a little bit more info about this?
Roger
Yes, I have to share Marius's question: where did you get that price info from? Or is it just a typo?
When Anonymous said N800 does not play H.264 videos, he meant OS2007 does not.
OS2008 can be installed on N800 too -- I'd do just that before putting mine up on eBay, and wait for the N810. Hopefully they'll deliver it in time for the Thanksgiving road trip..
(really glad I have not splurged on the Navicore kit for my N800. Phew)
Whats whit the Nokia AV connector?
Only info a read about it that is 3.5mm stereo sound and a mic. So four "pins" plug connector (like your Canon camera) docent leave room for composite video.
Does N810 have TV out?
N95 has one, but maybe it misses mic. I don't know, does somebody?
Question1
Does the PDF reader in N810 allow continuous page touch scrolling?
Question2
Does the PDF reader in N810 work with PDF hyperlinks to jump to different sections of a PDF file?
Oh, regarding the typing test -- how about TyperA ?
hmmm, under $400? Everything I've seen to date has claimed the price will be $479, which means I'll be sticking with my N800. If it comes in at less than $400, however, then Nokia will have themselves another sale.

Hi Thoughtfix, Maxilogan from ITT here. Please, if you have any of those files, try to let us know whether it really supports RM files out of the box like it appears here:

I can host one if you need, tough it isn't the right resolution :(
