The N810 is shipping.
The fine print:
- It was available for direct order for about three hours before it was sold out.
- They are still taking orders, but it is now on backorder with an expected ship date of Nov. 27 as per this writing. *edit - A friend and reader just ordered his. $404.99 and was told it will ship tomorrow!*
- The official direct price is $479.99.
- There's a secret coupon: $75 off! Except you have to ask for it and see if it's still valid. It may not be by the time this is published and the units are back in stock. No promises on that one, but worthy of the extra couple seconds asking about it.
- The sales rep had some internal training on it and got to play with one. She wants one now too.

Got mine just now =D They said it was still shipping, I should have it on Tuesday! Thanks thoughtfix!
Just ordered mine as well. Got like $30 off and free shipping 2-day.
Just ordered mine. They must have more in stock, or it must depend on where you are / where the warehouse for your region is. The $75 discount is not universal; apparently the representatives can discount any sale by $5 - $75 in order to make or keep a sale or to keep the customer satisfied. I got the max of $75 off. May depend on the sales representative and if they are feeling generous.
In Germany it is still not available form Nokia-shop or any other shop. :(
But since the N800 costs only 234,99 Euro (~343,59$) i think ill buy one + 2x 8GB SD-Cards....
Three questions: where is this secret coupon and how does one use it?
And, as I understand it the 810 will be sold with maps specific to each region it is sold in, therefore by taking advantage of the low value of the US dollar I can buy one of these half the UK price but where can I get the UK/European maps from?
11/26 WooHoo, Just ordered Mine! My total with shipping is $404.99. Said it will ship today. Thanks for posting this.
Why the heck is still not available on-line!!!
Sgrunt, waiting for it in Italy :(
Also ordered mine, and got the $75 off. Many thanks for posting this!
Be warned that they will require your SSN for a credit check when ordering.
Now I'm eagerly awaiting the confirmation email...
So to clarify this is not nokia. This is a company by the name of lets talk.
Check out their ratings here.

Personally I feel anyone who has placed an order with them should be concerned.
Further I feel their representing themselves as nokia, when in fact they are not nokia, is dishonest.
with os 2008 there is no reason to overpay for the n810..if you have an n800 like myself it would be stupid to upgrade..for just a keyboard? no thanks!
Fair warning - I asked the sales rep several times during the ordering process if he had these in stock to ship today. Each time he insisted that they did.
Now my order status is backordered, and they say they won't have stock until Nov 26...
Good price, but not good service so far. I would have ordered it with that shipping date anyway, but it would be nice to have honest info up front.
I also had the same problem, i clarified several times that it WAS in stock with the representative on the phone, when I got my order confirmation it was backordered until Nov 27th. Kind of annoying, but I still would have ordered it anyways. I've been waiting several months, so what's another two weeks?
Sadly, no go for me. I tired to order over the phone and was told that it *may* be available between beginning of Dec and end of February!!
I might have a better chance of getting one by entering your contest thoughtfix. Oh, well...sigh...
I called and was told that they did not have info in their system about it. My hubby is buying me one for mybday and I dont want to wait 2 weeks. Anyone have any advice?
as of 1630 gmt (10:30 chicago) no $75 coupon and not going to ship until after 11/27
same information i got from a flunky at janr yesterday
just ordered mine. Didn't have to ask for the coupon, they gave it to me for "the inconvience of having to wait". It doesn't ship till the 27th, but they gave me free 2 day shipping. I'm a little disappointed that I have to wait, but whats a few weeks after waiting for months. Thanks ThoughtFix!!
I totally agree with Anonymous; why buy the N810 when you can get a N800 for half the price? I just paid $223.99 Canadian for my N800 through distribution and I'm now eagerly awaiting the OS2008 to be released for N800 in December (Nokia Support Info). With the extra money I saved on the N800 over the N810, I bought two 4 Gig SD Cards and the rest is Tablet history. I've already got a GPS, don't need another, I've already got a bluetooth external keyboard, don't need the integrated one, and I like the full SD footprint cards because they are more readily available and they are considerably cheaper.
Anonymous: Why do you say that number belongs to letstalk? It's not the number on their website. Googling for it shows it listed as belonging to Nokia at several sites, e.g. http://www.compuplus.com/techsupport.php3. There are no sites with that number and letstalk in them.
For half the price, I get an N800, sure. That's certainly not bad.
Now, let's say I don't have a BT GPS module. I'll need one of those to match the N810's GPS option. That's another $70-$100, retail.
Thumb keyboard? There's only one option that's still supported by the vendor, but let's assume you can find the old Freedom Mini BT keyboard. That's another $70 right there. (The newer Slim Keypad isn't even out yet.)
You're rapidly eating away at the price advantage of the N800 already, and you're carrying three devices, with three batteries to manage.
We already know that you lose the camera swivel and the gobs of expansion space, but depending on what you need, it may make more sense to just sell your N800 and buy an N810 to replace it.
For me, since I refused to buy into Nokia's overpriced upgrade to the 770, the N810 is actually at a reasonable pricepoint.
in response to the earlier posters question about why the 888 number is not listed on letstalk site.
To clarify yes the number on this page is for nokia customer care.
However your US order will be handled by letstalk. As letstalk is nokia's us distributor.
Which is a shame because I am familiar with and trust nokia products, but do not trust letstalk.
googling letstalk or going to the following url describes some of letstalk's business practices
that I think anyone considering using their services should know about.
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Let_s_Talk
My main contentions are that:
I do not feel they should require or even ask for your social security number to complete the transaction.
and
Since I called nokia's customer service line, I do not like the fact that I can be transfered to, or have a transaction placed on my behalf to a company such as letstalk that I do not trust, without being informed.
It was only after they asked me for my social security number that I thought to ask, who it was that was processing my order, which is when I learned it was letstalk and not nokia.
I understand that the amount of direct sales business to consumers that nokia handles may be small enough that handling the logistics does not make sense for them.
But I feel in the interest of honesty, they should make it clear to the consumer when it is you are dealing with nokia, and when it is you are dealing with some business they have contracted out their sales and distribution to.
Especially when the business they utilize has such questionable practices.
pardon the length of the post and thank you thoughtfix for a fantastic blog.
Why - except for $75 coupon - would you use letstalk?
their price is $480 - perhaps $405 after rebate but then perhaps add tax? - for me that would add $35 for a total of $440.
Amazon and Buy.com have the N810 for $440 - a bit more at Buy.com both with free shipping and you can trust them both. (BTW I trust Letstalk.com - have bought from them in past).
Or buy one on internet - As i write this there is a new N810 at $671 with 50 minutes left - that is INSANE.
good day every one,
I'm really wonder, N810 price in US is about 439 USD
and its price in Germany is about 412 Euro (610 USD).
please if anyone has another price from Germany to contact me (mohannad-wachmann@hotmail.com)
thanks
