N800 slips below $200 thanks to Dell

That's right. The Nokia N800, initially a $399 device, is now available through Dell at $199. That's $28 less than the lowest I've seen so far.

Reminders on the difference between the N800 and the N810:
  • N800 has two full sized SDHC card slots for massive storage.
  • N810 has a single MiniSDHC card slot plus 2 GB internal storage.
  • N800 has a pop-out rotating web cam.
  • N810 has a fixed, user-facing web cam.
  • N810 has a sunlight readable display.
  • N810 has a keyboard.
  • N810 has a GPS.

You forgot the n800's FM radio

Also:

* N810 has a microUSB slot
* N800 has a miniUSB slot
* N810's directional pad is inconveniently hidden away behind the slider
* N810 is prettier than a N800 in real life (this is somewhat subjective).

Here in Germany you can't get an N800 except from ebay... :(

If you don't like using a thumb keyboard, remember the N800 allows one to hook up a full sized blue tooth keyboard. In addition, I use a bluetooth GPS receiver that I purchased for only $40. This receiver which works better that the native N810 receiver when linked with my N800 gives me a nice platform, for much less money. I have some tutorials on both systems via my blog: http://econtent.typepad.com/econtent/nokia_tablets/index.html

I kinda like the n800 better. Its cheaper, better for ebook reading, they have a nice otg adapter for it, and takes 2 sd cards (which I have a few all over the place.)

I also ordered a mini usb keyboard. I am going crazy over this device.

Sorry, the 800 has TWO mini slots? Where are they? I only saw the one on the bottom that has an adaptor for the giant full sized sd hole. But, I admit I don't like the mini keyboard on the 810. I think the 800 is the way to go. Especially for $200.

Cleverly hidden behind the battery. A bit hard to access, though.

IIRC, Nokia's ITOS only allows a swap file to be created on this internal slot, not the easily-removeable SD card.
