Nokia 770 starts mass shipping. "Approximately 350 euro including taxes."

Users start using GPS software on their Internet Tablets, including GPSDrive and RoadMap. GPSDrive later evolves to Maemo Mapper - a favorite among Internet Tablet users.
Internet Tablet OS 2006 released, including Google Talk and VOIP. The updated Nokia 770 came with a new box style, shown above.

Urho Konttori's Media Converter version 0.97 first added to the maemo garage. His later software releases would include UKTube, UKMP, ThemeMaker and USBControl. Uhro's software rapidly becomes community favorites and Nokia recognized his talents and eventually hired him on.

Interesting that neither OS2008 (with forged N810 MAC for authentication) nor Diablo (SSU instructions blogged, although without link to (wide open) repo) internal release escapes were mentioned.
I thought those were pretty serious events; then again, I'm the sort of person who takes advantage of them instead of shying off, and we're probably a minority.

This is the best maemo timeline I have seen so far. Sure, it can be improved but hey - it's a great first shot.
You are invited to post it in the brand new MediaWiki in maemo.org so the community can improve and maintain it.
another bonus for the N800, but I can't tell you when texrat told people, is that the screen is pressure sensitive - maemopad+ allows you to have the pen change according to pressure. It's not particularly linear though.
also, os2008HE for the 770 tablet deserves a mention as some people put in a lot of hard work to make that possible!
