People are already talking at length about the supposed N900/Rover tablet of which MobileCrunch claims to have “exclusive knowledge.” The mock-up above was included in their post over it.
The specs they report are no surprise: They’re a combination of the existing N810, some features of the N97, and all the information we heard back in September of last year. What really throws me for a loop: TMO? Really? T-Mobile? One of the blessings of the Internet Tablets before were that they were carrier-agnostic and can be used with a tethered phone on any carrier supporting the service. This meant that the same tablet can be used globally. Adding a carrier means adding carrier restrictions and bending to the will of those carriers. There would be an advantage, though: It could be offered at a lower subsidized price. Still – I’m not sure about the placement of this one.

I'm fine with a T-Mobile version. BUt,then, I'm already a T-Mobile customer. I'd be _happier_ with there also being an unlocked version, and if they could work with AT&T 3G, as well. Bonus if there was also a way to have no data plan (wifi only for data + voice + SMS), and then you could easily use it with any GSM service.
As for “The specs they report are no surprise”: voice telephony sure is. It was never mentioned before. Also, the 3.5″ is a real (negative) surprise.
While the TMO-cooperation doesn’t frighten me too much (I assume there’ll be an unlocked version), I still don’t know what to make of all this. It doesn’t match any of my use cases. Too big for a phone, too restricted (in size and UI) for a portable computer… Why should I get one? I don’t see the point of it.
Really disappointing after all this time waiting for new hardware.
What make me think it s a fake is the keyboard ? (and i hope)
Look at the space key … strange
Khertan: the keyboard is supposedly just like the one on the N97, funky space key and all.
The carrier may mess things up. Do you really want to bad t-mobile software or a large unremovable ‘my faves’ widget. There doesn’t have to be an unlocked NAM version if t-mo wants it that way.
Other than that, this should be a good follow up. The same overall N810 design with some changes and upgrades should be welcomed.
As long as the browser is fast and stable, amiright?
Ouch … this is a phone keyboard ! not a nit one !
And the size of the screen is smaller …
/me is afraid …
